Why did he ask me for my opinion just so he gets upset/defensive?

My guy best friend has been thinking about buying a used unique truck that cost about $56k. The problem is he has back issues so he would have to change the seat and find a good one for comfort. He only has about 60 or $63k in his bank now. He would have to get plane ticket and drive back in truck since in another state. Even if he changes seat still very possible his back will hurt. He wants to lower truck suspension as well. He said it can make him broke. He asked what should he do. I said "this is my opinion but I think you should just keep using your dads car for now and save up money, but thats just what I think im not telling you what to do" then he said "so im supposed to drive a kia my whole life!" I said "no I didn't say that I just said for now save money and buy a different car that will work for you" then he said so what car then?" I said "well how about jeep?" He said "im not spending 6 grand on a trackhawk! So what do I do?" I felt annoyed and said "I dont know"

He just called me right now saying the seller sent him a message that someone else just bought the truck with cash. He just said to me "I was thinking too much last night if I should buy my plane ticket or not and he just said he sold it so thats it". I asked for how much he sold it?
He just said "it doesn't matter anymore nothing matters. I got to go bye" .
I kinda feel like he's upset towards me not sure but thats what I felt
