Is it normal to rarely talk to any women in your life? I only really talk to my sister and mom, a friend of mine? How many girls do you talk too?

Is this why I suck at talking to women? Most of my friends are guys. So, is this something I can fix?

When I was your age I too had a problem of talking with women. I also was an visiting instructor at several universities in my younger years. As I got older and more experience it became easier. They're just people like you and I that want to be treated as equal partners. I've also had women as supervisors in past employment. I find that they were easier to talk to then some of the male supervisors.

I don’t know how normal it is, all I know is what my friends and I have experienced.


Family: I have my sister. I’m planning on moving out of state soon, so we probably won’t get to talk as much.


Friends: I have a few wives of friends, but it’s hard to be close as they’re focused on starting a family and doing “family stuff,” so we don’t get much time to just spend time together socially as friends very much.


I have one friend that I’ve had for ages that I’m fairly close with; but she’s one of a select few women who actually seem to make some genuine effort to get together - but she’s one of a few.



If it wasn’t for making the effort myself, having natural opportunities to socialize (through husbands), or for me being very patient, I don’t think most of these things would last naturally.


Almost anything social I do is either done by myself (go to a bar or restaurant on my own or go see a movie) or I hang with a guy friend. Maybe grab lunch with one of my brothers. Go to church. Work stuff. I almost never see or talk to women - at least around my age.


Relationships: Nope.


I think a lot of guy friends have had a similar situation, unless they grew up being fawned over by women (being good looking or cute, great metabolism, wealthy, lucking out with good jobs, having access to lots of women, etc) - most didn’t have this stuff easily, so I think most struggled until they found their girlfriends / wives.

perhaps normal if you don't have a big social circle isn't going to be a lot of girls to talk to. most of the girls i talk to work as servers at restaurants / pubs i go to. were like friends there and would know each other well enough to talk casually but were not like best friends.

aren't really any girls where i live , its a duplex but neigbours very old and like no single women nearby and i don't have a full time job so not a lot of other options. i had talked to some girls at gym but not many and most were same girls i talked to at bars

i only talk to my girlfriend, sister, and mother and a few co-workers and friends.
otherwise all of my friends are guys.

Well, you can always practice talking to women in situations where you aren't hitting on them. And I think you'll find that talking to people in general is also helpful when it comes to getting comfortable in holding a convo. But don't forget that you can't be all things to all people, so you'll have an easier time with some women than others.

I think it’s pretty common these days. I don’t talk to any men outside my family, but I don’t really have any female friends either.

Same here , I only talk to my sister rarely and not really any woman normally, mostly other guys wives but I don’t have any
