If a mother dies in childbirth, can a father also be a powerful figure?

That's my story. She died giving birth to me 25 years ago. She managed to see me, smile and hug me one last time before losing consciousness again and passing away.

As a toddler and child growing up, my father was all I had left. If I had a nightmare and something scared me, I would immediately called him. In my small mind, he was my idol, my hero, my protector, the one I look up to, his words meant everything to me.

If a child lacks a mother and the father is all they got, can he also be a powerful figure?

I know a loving mother is generally the primary caregiver and the one in the child's life at all time but can a father only fill that role too and be a powerful figure?

It was more like sharing my story. Many people focus mainly on the mother as the primary caregiver, the life giver, the one there for the kid all the time. Till this day loving fathers don't get as much recognization as mothers.
I give him credits for what he went through; his wife's death and him having to be both mom and dad for me.
