Right after my dad found out that my stepmom has cancer, she stopped working all of the sudden. She is a middle-age woman. However, both of her daughters (both in their early 20s) do work full-time. Even as though I was diagnosed with SEVERE autism, I am around both of her daughters' age and work part-time under the table at a small shop. Even my dad works and he had undergone some financial troubles for years.
I had 4 family members die of cancer.
It is not easy. Even the most workaholic person of those 4 cannot literally work. They were in pain. They were both mentally and physically drained. And some are financially drained.
Come on man.

because it's HARD. you're completely drained, worried, an emotional wreck. you may even die. so many appointments to go to also. like... the last thing on my mind would be to work! and if you go through chemo, all you can muster to do is lay in bed...
Depends on the severity and stage of cancer. It can be very painful, tiring, debilitating and life critical.
The treatments may require time away from work.
But early stages you can continue to work.
