Do not raise kids too liberally, I see it in this society more and more: kids who dont see limits, have no sense whats right or wrong, no manners, neglect
Well it's on the adults to teach the limits. If you don't then it's on the parents or guardians fault for not doing their literal job. Kids will do stupid things. They will do them liberally mostly if they see you neglect or fail to respect them. As they simply will assume at a certain point it's just normal to get yelled at.
Absolutely kids are wrapped up in cotton wool these days and need to get out more to explore and learn things for themselves
Getting a few bruises can be ok š
Fuck no, I'm calling CPS on anyone who told me this
You realize helicopter parenting is what made the so called snowflakes you despise right?
I didn't do anything life threating as a kid to learn, you could say the fact I grew up in a poverty-stricken environment as a kid was dangerous enough but I didn't do anything to get myself hurt. I didn't grow up a weirdo sjw now did i? Neither will my kids I made most the right choices besides having a kid at 16 but besides that I made it out of poverty while the kids who made all the bad choices to learn are dead, prostitution & look a mess, on drugs and in the streets talking to themselves or in prison & getting out still thinking their young and ready to go right back or just stuck doing the same shit our parents did going through the motions. Not MY kids and I find that to be neglect of their parents.
Who said anything about life threatening?
Dangerous things are life threatening
Not always. Thats why we have different words for them.
Climbing a tree is dangerous but it's rarely life threatening.
So u think the picture is OK?
Yes I think it's perfectly ok for a child to carefully navigate stepping on wet rocks, it's not like they are running and jumping, it's not like there's rapids, they're very clearly thinking about their next move and how to get where the want safely. The worst likely thing to happen in this situation is they fall on their ass and realize that wasn't a good place to stand.
When you become a parent, let me know if you still think all of this is OK. It's easy for non-parents to speak on a lot until they have their own kids. I didn't turn out a sjw and if you did I'm sure that's not because of the way your parents taught you. You just made choices to be one for no reason at all.
Coddling and protecting kids from life is only going to make an incredibly anxious and afraid to take risks in the future
That's funny cause I grew up bo way like that I was. Ot coddled but I was never into dangerous things at all infact my mom was barely home. And I took care of my bronand sisters at 9 and I didn't need to do anything dangerous to be a weirdo
That sucks that your childhood was ripped away from you, I'm sorry you had to go through that
It wasn't bad lol but regardless I didn't become a coddled weirdo, kids should be exposed to certain stuff but things that could hurt them I won't want them apart of
A kid needs to fall on his face before he learns not to do it again. We're there to make sure no permanent damage can be done to them 😁
Of course as long as the parents are watching them. Let the kids be kids.
If it doesn't risk their lives then it's fine. However they need to be educated first. As long as they reach the age of knowing what danger and Hazards are.
Seems like an āin the momentā determination. Those stepping stones are fine, but running across the top of the waterfall? Nah.
Well obviously that wouldn't be considered doing dangerous things carefully
Guess im not getting it. Are you saying you should be helicopter mom, or that children should exeprience more things?
I'm saying kids should be able to hang up side down or walk on the monkey bars (as long as they are doing it carefully) without a parent/caregiver holding their hand or hovering.
I guess it's hard to explain different situations and it would depend on the age of the child...
Oh agreed. The stats on childhood obesity asideā¦parents should focus on training kids to sidestep problems like crossing a river. Insert Fish vs fishing parable.
kids will be kids and how else will they gain confidence if they never stretch themselves... It is funny how kids see adventure while parents see danger...
Under supervision? Itād depend on what it was they were doing or wanted to do.
Do you agree that we should allow kids to do dangerous things as long as they are doing them carefully? Um, no because a) other kids may or may not look up to them. b) I was bullied by dangerous things kids did when I was in middle school.
Yes..
That's what Dr. Jordan Peterson says..
To some extent yes. I mean I did some stupid stuff when I was younger. Kids have to get outside and be kids.
I donāt think dangerous is a good word. They should be allowed to be kids, but not anything thatās gonna put their life in danger.
Life threatening and dangerous are different things
If you say so. Theyāre pretty much the same to me.
The definition of dangerous is "able or likely to cause harm or injury."
Given that safety measures have been taken, yes.
Yes, need to raise kids to be men. Tough and not afriad of taking risks.
depends on what you call dangerous. I would probably say no.
I let my kids knife fight in the bed of my truck on the highway.
I get a lot of looks.
great idea, ill try that with mine
It depends on their age, and how clumsy they are.
Rules. Boys especially will resist coddling.
They're meant to grow and expand explore etc.
Most of us that were born in the 50s and 60s survived.
Queue the death giving a sword to a little girl meme...
Absolutely and I think child labor should be legalized
You take a risk which is fine. They might learn or just do the same shit over and over again.
I was jumping off platforms 10 feet high that ended in woodchips by the age of 5
let children be children as we were back in the day
Absolutely 100% agree.
As long as they're not deadly, I don't want to have children just so they can off themselves.
1000000000% YES!
Depends on the danger
Yeas I agree. It helps filter out the stupid breed of humanity.
Itās Bread not Breed dumb ass
@EarthRealm š bread?
@earthrealm itās actually breed you dumbass
It's called shop class.
Alright son, this is how to NOT lose a finger while sawing PVC pipe to fix the sink
@Sirenboobzilla a good shop teacher has at least nine fingers.
Within reason, yes.
yes all need to know!
I'm in agreement
Yes. Thatās the best way to learn
nooo kids are stupid
No... kids are dumb...
I completely agree.
Yep there is an element of truth there
Yeap.
no one wrong move their dead.
That's how we grew up
Absolutely.
LET KIDS BE KIDS!
Certain things yeah
No no no no
no...
Uhhh. Noooo...
Not really
Depends how dangerous it is too
