Can I stay safe on Facebook?

I’ve gone against friends’ advice and decided to try Facebook once more. The guy who chased/stalked me for ten months, on Facebook and in person has just discovered my new alias, just as everyone warned me he would. I know, because he keeps appearing at the top of the people I might know list. Should I ignore him and continue using Facebook publicly, as I want to add and be added by people and I doubt he’s a threat anymore, or should I close Facebook?

You should be free to use Facebook and keep it private to your family, friends, colleagues etc who you wish to share your social life with.

Although I understand your concerns after you had some guy stalking you.

Unless he's bothering you stay on but he's harassing you then report it.

Stay on Facebook. If he continues to stalk you, report him to Facebook and if necessary, report him to police.
