So, I recently moved in China and since I and my ex broke up, decided to rent a tiny apartment, just enough for me. As I wasn’t going to have any people over and I was going to work most of the time, I only have 1 chair, one small sofa and one pouf. Everything is just for one person. I now, regret and wish I rented a bigger apartment but it’s too late to regret 😄
My apartment is tiny and I don’t spend much time here.
Now it’s Chinese new year and one of my best students ( to whom I teach Russian) and his family wants to celebrate it with me and they offered me to have a dinner at my home as my guests.
Which is very small. I don’t want to refuse it but I also feel uncomfortable hosting a dinner there.

You can rent some essentials like chair and other things for one or two days. May be cheaper than buying them.
And since they are guests, and that too parents at that, you need to clean each and every corner of your flat lol. 😅
I can't think of anything else right now. All the best!
It’s Chinese New Year, everything is close! 😄
Oh...
Do chinese people sit down for dinner?
If not, then I don't think you have any option but to tell them your situation. Perhaps request them to conduct the event at their house then.
I think they want to come over, so I don’t feel lonely on New Year. They are really nice. It’s New Year and they’re supposed to spend the New Year with family, yet they are willing to spend it with me.
They are considering you a part of their family. That is really good! Nice people!
I'd sit on the sofa and put my food on that little table and go to work
