If you're doing it because you're about to turn 30, I promise you that's just a myth. You'll be fine at 30 and very few people will actually care (the people who do care are usually super shallow anyway).

It's not okay only because you begin the friendship/relationship on a foundation of a lie. And you will get caught. They will find out.

No. Just be open and honest. You will get more respect that way. Otherwise you will get a lifelong label that says "I am not truthful".
