Does it exhaust you emotionally that everyone always expects help from you?

Let’s say you’re a self-sufficient person and never ask for anyone for anything.

You do everything yourself since the very young age, however, people around you always expect that you will help them.

Would it exhaust you emotionally? When you know you can’t rely on anyone while everyone else just relies on you?

I’ve been this way since I was 22 and it’s really tiresome, I can’t do any other way but help those who expect that from me, but I sometimes have to put my priorities behind, because of that and I’ve regretted that often.

Instead of helping others I think the best help is to teach them how to help themselves. But they don’t seem to learn.
