What do you think of the parents that kick their kids out as soon as they have turned 18 years old?

The parents who do that are terrible. Mine kicked me out at 18 cuz they didn't like my baby daddy coming around for his son. Definitely not something I would ever do to my kids. I do hope they have some sort of life plan at 18 tho like working towards college, a job, family so they are ready to move out around that age.

I went to college with a kid that claimed his father kicked him out when he turned 18. I don't think it did him much good. He was really into drugs and liked to go to bars and get in fights. He did not win many of those fights either. I don't think he graduated either.

lot of kids aren't grown and capable by that age since the system that raises them is mediocre for many and the skill level required to survive now is much higher than few decades ago.

I have mixed feelings. I was give three options go to college go to the military or go to work. Well my dad wasn’t going for his daughter going to the military (still wanted to go). So moral of the story once you become 18 most people think you’re an adult so it’s best that you contribute to your household and as for me, I’ve always wanted to help and do some thing I decided going to college and working be productive

And there’s the whole dynamic of daddies are softer for their daughters, moms are softer for their sons. You’re absolutely right once the child turns 18 it doesn’t automatically make them prepared to take care of themselves but as a parent, what are you want them to be able to my daddy thought me

That seems a bit harsh, but I was kicked out at the age of 12 so 18 doesn't sound too bad.

It's shitty. It's one thing to nudge your kids to get direction, it's another to eject them into the world.

That's too soon. But kick them out eventually. Or make them act like adults. They are either roommates or part of a family that needs to pull their weight. Being a child forever and coddling them - nope, that needs to end.

It really depends. Not everyone's path is equal. Some kids need it, and some kids pursue further education and it's generally a good investment. I know my parents always told me they didn't care when I leave but I had to either be going to school or have a full time job if I was to live at home. I think most parents just want to know that thier kids can stand on thier own 2 feet. But again as I said every situation is different.
