Also a person can have both.

One doesn’t have to lose their dignity and sacrifice at their own expense to elevate anyone else for the simple ‘want’ of a “friend.”

Be your greatest friend first, and then a friend to others. That way you know what to look for in friends, and idealize they reciprocate at your level.
