While some places in the world do prohibit finding the sex of their child before birth, if you were given the choice, would you find out before or wait for the baby to be born?
+1 yWe always wanted to find out beforehand simply as a matter of preparation and organization.
We did it both for our first daughter and for the twins my wife is expecting, and we found out they are both girls.
I'd have liked to have a girl and a boy, and instead we are jumping to three daughters. I'm still happy nonetheless, but I feel I'm outnumbered in my house, like I did when growing up.11 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, I agree wanting to find out. If someone told me I would have to wait, I would go nuts. I am going to want to pick out cute baby stuff. Keeping me from doing that would be torture.

Yes there are still people that literally wait until the baby is born to find out but majority of parents to be don’t. I personally think it’s wise to know a head of time

As much as I would like to think I could wait, I have to be honest with myself and definitely would want to know. Thanks for the opinion.

For me, it would be the typical girl thing... wanting to pick out all sorts of cute clothes and stuff for the baby's room.
We tried to find out, but she was a pain in the bum. So in the end we had to wait. It was nice but frustrating 🥺❤️

I bet! I would go nuts not knowing. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

+1 yI’d rather wait til after the child is born just because i know a lot of fams whose doc guessed the sex wrong

Good point there!

The babys room will be in neutral colors anyways, yellow or green. Im not for the gender neutral stuff in terms of political talk but until i find out the sex of the babt, i won't be buying all pink or all blue
- +1 y
Yeah, there is so much cute stuff out there that isn't just pink and blue anymore. I am in mommy mode right now because we are going to start trying later this year. I have been looking at baby stuff constantly.
- +1 y
I’ve been looking at baby stuff since i played with baby dolls as a kid 😂🤣 But best of luck on yor journey 🙌

Aww, thanks!! Fingers crossed!

+1 yBefore, because i buy clothes early for them. Or paint their bedroom pink or blue early in advance. More time to pick out a name. Less stressful when planning ahead.
10 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. I waited with one of my kids and it definitely made the birth very exciting but I already had a feeling that he was gonna be a boy so I wasn't too surprised
10 Reply3.7K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. We had 3 kids , we did not want to know the sex in advance.

Aww! That's great! So rare these days. Everyone wants to know ahead of time.

It is truly disappointing that a simple, harmless question can be turned into something political. Smh.
- +1 y
@PrettyPriya Everything is about race in America. or else it is about something else.
- +1 y
@exitseven So we have to keep up that narrative on a question like this? You can understand why I would be disappointed. Talking about pronouns has zero to do with what I asked.
- +1 y
@PrettyPriya You used pronouns in your question.
Now maybe you could have phrased the question in such a way as to avoid having done that, but that is the whole point, it is difficult not to reveal gender because it is embedded in the language.
It is even more embedded in some other languages, in Portuguese for example, there are masculine and feminine versions of 'they'. - +1 y
@Guffrus You turned this political. Pathetic.
- +1 y
@PrettyPriya No, I didn't.
Exitseven did but it was fine and then you decided to throw a hand grenade in.
Trying to assign blame to me is absurd, there was nothing what so ever that was political in my comment, I just thought that it must be difficult to never use a he/she pronound when talking about the baby in order to conceal the information about the gender. - +1 y
@Guffrus That is simply not true. Look at the first three interactions. Then, there you come.
"Do you think that was difficult for the doctors etc?
It seems like avoiding he/she pronounds might be a minefield."
So lie away if it makes you feel better. - +1 y
You will not come on my question and call me a 'fucking moron'. That is my only warning.
- +1 y
Be my guest. Report away. I welcome that considering I have not called anyone a fucking moron.
- +1 y
Truly amazing how triggered you get.
- +1 y
@guffrus has somehow blocked me lol I've never even seen this dude before
- +1 y
@Degenerate Consider that a benefit.
- +1 y
@exitseven I certainly was not blaming you. He did the manly thing and blocked me anyhow.
+1 yI did not find out with the 1st, did find out with the 2nd so I could have one of each experience.

That’s a really good way of doing it.

+1 yWe decided to wait until birth, wasn't always easy - I was so curious at times and sometimes he was the one going nuts.
10 ReplyI did wait until they were both born. But no one believed me I didn't know. They thought I didn't want to tell.

- +1 y
Well waiting would still be torture for sure but yeah haha
- +1 y
I would look something like this most days if I wasn't allowed to know -------> 😭
- +1 y
Oh maaan hahahahaha
- +1 y
Do you wish for a girl or a boy? Of couse health is first but yeah...
- +1 y
Well, in a perfect world, I want two kids. If I got to choose, boy first and then girl so he could look after his sister.
+1 yMy mother would absolutely make me find out...
310 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, totally agree with this. Plus, I don't think I could wait. It is not allowed in India to find out before, but we are moving so... yeah, I will want to know.
- +1 y
How long into pregnancy do you have to wait for that?
- +1 y
Week 14 you should be able to find out.
- +1 y
I see... do you have a preference in what you want?
- +1 y
Well, in a perfect world, I would like to have two kids. If I got to choose, I would like both genders with the boy first so he could look after his younger sister. Now that I have said this, it will be the opposite I'm sure.
- +1 y
Haha, true, but I think we would have the same preference in that regard, but I think my opinion on having children has changed a lot, and I don't think I'd want to have em anymore
- +1 y
Yeah, it isn't for everyone. I don't look down upon those that choose not to have kids. That is a very big decision. This is also why we are moving to koala land. Better education system.
There is a lot to think about before making the decision to have kids and those that don't want to is fine with me. It isn't for everyone. - +1 y
Yeah lol gotta find someone willing to have sex with me (that's impossible)
- +1 y
If you have the funds for travel, I have friends. Oh God. I am digitally pimping out friends. This site has really got to me. 😞
- +1 y
lol... you must really hate them to be offering them to me 🤣
I would wait, the surprise would be nice

I would want to know before I gave birth. I don't think I could wait. It would be driving me nuts not knowing and I would be wanting to buy cute baby clothes and stuff.
- +1 y
Awwwww! I like that!! 😉😉

Yep! I am excited. We are going to start trying later this year. Fingers crossed we are successful.
