How often do you smile while talking with someone?

I smile often while talking with elders out of respect and so that I won't look rude and I smile even more while talking with kids younger than 7 years because they're just so cute. I smile rarely while having a chat with someone of my age bracket.

Pretty often, since based on what others have told me I seem to have an aggressive or cold look to me. I imagine being pale, tall, and wearing black all the time while on ADHD medication doesn't help, lmao.

It actually made it a bitch when I had to wear a mask during high school, since all you saw was my eyes. I remember feeling bad I intimidated my friend's sister in a class of mine who sat next to me, so I stopped wearing my mask. That way she'd realize I am pretty friendly and smile a lot.

I don't know... I've never really thought about it. I guess I smile occasionally to show the person I'm interested in what they are saying. People have different expectations about how men show that they are interested in a conversation than what they expect from women, though.

If I don't know them well, I smile pretty often. If we catch eyes, or they say something that was meant to be funny or nice, or I'm just trying to make sure I don't come off standoffish, which is especially important for me to do because I'm shy. Smiling is how I ensure people know I'm just not talking because I'm anxious or quiet, but not because I dislike them.

But that's all 90% fake smiling. Around friends and close family members, I really only smile when I'm genuinely amused by something.
