Should I have told him? Am I wrong for not telling him?

I got a dog and I didn't tell anyone but my parents and sister that I was getting one because in my opinion they were the only ones that needed to know.

Later when this guy I was talking to found out he got in his feelings about it and told me I should have talked to someone who knows something about the breed before getting him and whatnot. I asked him who I should have spoken to and then he got angry with me because I should have spoken to him about it. I told him I didn't realize this would be a problem because he doesn't live with the dog so I didn't feel it was necessary. He then went on to say how ''it's a difficult breed and you got the dog announced to anyone, well me.''

I honestly didn't tell him because I already know how he feels about dogs and again he doesn't live with my dog. He was like ''no I'm sure it was spontaneous.'' Like I hadn't research the breed for 5 years before getting him.

Was I wrong for not telling him? It's not like I told everyone else. What's his issue?
