Is there an age you stop being a parent's baby, little girl/boy?

I just turned 33 last month and I'm my parents' only child. The had fertility issues for years and after two unsuccessful IVF, I was born naturally one day. My mom was 36 and dad was 40 at the time. It's said both were crying out of happiness and called it a miracle from God.

Growing up, I was more closer to dad than mom. He used to spoiled me more, reprimanded me less than mom and I felt more understood by him than her. I'm engaged by now but my parents still regard me as their baby, their little girl.

Is there an age you stop being their baby, little girl/boy?

Bro.. look don't tell not nobody keep it between me and you! I just turned 36 my mother whenever I visit she will still cut my meat up and just baby me. I tried to call her by her government name but she slapped the taste out of my mouth. It's mom, mommy momma or even mother fucker lol or nothing else. I've always heard that no matter how old you are, you'll always be a little girl/boy to your parents. I find that sweet in some ways. So, I think there's no age for them to stop seeing you like that.

Based on what you wrote, I can tell that your parents truly love you and want you in their lives. You're lucky. Not everyone has parents like yours (me included).

I guess it's not like they don't know that you're an adult and that you're engaged. It's more like you're so precious to them, that they find hard to believe that you're a woman now.

While I have fond memories of my daughter as a baby and little girl, I do not think of her as as a little girl now that she is 18. I think it would be inappropriate not to acknowledge her adulthood. During higher education she stays financially dependent but it's her right to receive my support and that does not make her less of an adult.

My son is younger and also less mature so he has some way to go there.

My mum treats me like an adult but still sees me and my sister as her babies in a way. My dad also treats us relatively like adults but also sees us as his kids I think. However, he doesn’t see us as much as his babies/kids ever since he had my little brothers who are between 3 months and 4 years old

They made their mistakes in life and dread the thought of you making the same ones.


Some can’t stand the thought of you not depending on them as you once did.


Sometimes we must move miles from home in order to start our own family and escape the grip our parents try to hold on us.

I’m the same age as you and I was an only child for 19 years (I have a 14 year old sister now). Anyway, my parents treat me like an adult, but I’m still their child. As a child, I had multiple surgeries and was treated with extra care. I guess they still consider me their “baby.”

well, doesn't matter because my parents divorced when i was young. but i get the "dad treats me better than my mom" kind of thing. my dad is way laid back and my mom is more anxiety inducing... unfortunately. it will take me years to unravel the toxicity of it all.

My grandmother lived to be 98 and never seemed to grasp her 70-year-old granddaughters and 36 to 51-year-old grandchildren were adults.

I actually have my own life, live in another town and will be getting married soon.
It's just that I visited my parents last week and dad called me his little girl. Interesting and I'm in my 30's. So I'll always be their little girl even if I were 35, 40 or older.
