How to handle jealous 15 year old niece?

What do you do when your teen niece shows she is jealous of you? I catch her staring at me and cutting her eyes at me (mind you I’ve very nice to her) I spoil her with gifts and Starbucks and fast food. She’s not doing well in school and I still try to be nice. I’m getting tired of dealing with her. Her mouth is smart all the time. I get she’s a teenager but some of this doesn’t feel normal. She acts like a jealous girl at a night club. What can I do to change this behavior? Mind you her mother acts just like her to me! I’m shocked a teen is behaving this way to an adult. I try to compliment her and boost her self esteem but to no avail she’s acting jealous of me. It kind of creeps me out. Anyone been through this with a niece? What can I do to change this?

If her mother is like this, she won't change her behaviour because she has clearly learnt it from her mother. I would stop the gifts and if she says anything, I would than tell her, I won't be giving anymore gifts because your attitude stinks and it's not okay. Giving you gift would be like rewarding for bad attitude and behaviour

Yes that’s true! If figure she’s following her mothers lead and who knows what they are saying about me together. I think I’m stopping all this spoiling.

If I ever disrespected my aunt my mom would ground me for 10 years I swear! She sounds like a real brat too me and you sound like you're a nice aunt too her.

I think the problem is she learned it from her mom. Her mom and I don’t have a good relationship.

She needs to understand that actions cause consequences. She has been devoid of this basic tenet of life. It's time she learned. Along with her mother.
