I think my life is very restrictive in some manner but that isn't entirely on my fault. My parents were very strict with me compared to my sister (i am the firstborn). In addition to that, i studied a lot for university and got a degree and i'm getting my master degree now, what i feel sometimes is that i want to take a long break and just have fun at nights. It's a thing i'm craving more and more but i have no idea how to start this at all. The major problem is also that my parents, despite me being 22 now, still ask me TO NOT GO OUT AT NIGHT ALONE. This is a thing i spoke to them many times but they still insist on this. So how do i do that? How do i finally exit this cage without my parents noticing and win over my own introvert approach (mind you, i hardly think of myself as introvert, since i just prefer not to speak to people who i don't think they're worth my time, so is more of a consequence)?
Dude, I totally feel you. Parents will always see you as their little kid no matter how old you get. But you gotta live your own life too!
Here's what I'd do - start slow. Tell them you're studying late at the library or working on a project with classmates. Ease them into the idea of you being independent.
Then when you do go out, don't come home super late hammered your first time. Keep it chill - a late dinner or movie after studying, nothing crazy. Check in with them so they worry less.
As you show you can handle yourself, they'll start relaxing the rules. Maybe try inviting some friends over for lowkey nights in too so they see your social circle.
Once they gain more trust, you can start spreading your wings more. Find your people and do your thing without their approval - just use discretion for now.
At the end of the day you're an adult. As long as you work hard and don't get wild, they'll come around. In the meantime, play the game till you can break totally free! You got this man.
