What’s your opinion on the record number of young adults 18-29 still living at home with their parents due to inflation and rise in housing markets?

Some of it is lack of parenting and teaching responsibility. Not teaching the value of hard work and being reliable. Not being able to communicate due to all the texting and lack of personal people skills. Another aspect is that everyone had to have their big closure of businesses during the scam called Covid. That was of course by design to damage economic conditions worldwide in order to put in place this new so-called “great reset.“ The stated goals of the world economic forum are that “by 2030 you will own nothing and be happy.” It’s pure evil!

It’s also due to inflation and printing money due to all the government spending on entitlements, wars, as well as government tyranny and regulation. In the US, the government from the federal level on down is committing treason against the United States Constitution and her people!

There are a lot of factors obviously but what it comes down to in the end is power, control, money, and a dependency of the people combined with lack of responsibility, lack of maturity, and feeling entitled!

I think it will only get worse. In the past there was still some naiivety when it came to the people who owned everything they didn't know yet how much they could exploit everyone and everything. But now people have caught on they're not leaving a single penny on the table and they will take advantage of struggling people wherever they can. Also in the U. S. unions have been sabotaged as much as possible by the owner class. Even though economies actually do better when the wealth is more spread out, rich people will never learn and keep being greedy until they crash everything again.

There's no wiggle room left for anyone. Unless you're a person with a really valuable skill you're just going to get squeezed and wrung out. The system is built more to take advantage of people who are struggling than to support and lift people up and enable them to reach a potential that they can never reach without the right environment.

The housing market is part of the problem too yes. But I think there's a lot more factors contributing to this.

it's extremely understandable, especially now. life fucking sucks. it's hard out there with inflation, greed, increasing prices, price gauging. it's almost impossible to live life. i don't get people's judgement. i think they should mind their own business as it doesn't affect them how old someone is still living at home. believe me. they get it. they understand everyone looks down on them. they don't need a reminder.

In my country, most young people live at home with parents, well until they get married.   It was very unusual for me to leave home at 20.  But I am happy for that. I wish I could have done it at 18.

I don't think it's that simple. Yes, housing costs relative to income are certainly a part of it, perhaps the biggest part of it, but the primary reason young people moved out on their own, historically, was to start families of their own, and social attitudes about marriage and relationships have crippled that, on top of which lowered incomes relative to costs hamper, since raising a family on a single income is impossible for most of the country these days, and there's a lot less appeal when both partners are out of the house- and the strain that causes dampens chances of it lasting even more.

Raw increases in payouts don't mean much- look at wages as a percent of GDP over time and you'll see how stupid the idea of having only stick to measure economic growth or contraction against is.

If I hadn't locked in our mortgage when we did I couldn't afford to live where I live in today's economy. We have two of our adult children living with us simply because housing is so expensive. Its crazy, this idea that you just need to work harder is simply a pipe dream. One of our kids who lives with us works for the state, makes decent money for his age but if he was to move out he'd need a second job or roommates. The base is that someone should make 5x their house payment or rent. So someone who is living in a decent apartment in our state would need a 6 figure income just to afford the apartment. And 6 figure jobs are not apartment level housing, we're talking professionals and upper level management.

The world is in a worse place than the Great Depression at the moment. In 2020 non-participation in the American workforce hit 39.9% and it is currently at 37.3%. Non-participation is a spruced up term for long term unemployment. Once you come off of unemployment insurance and still can't find work, your category is changed to non-participation. In 1933 unemployment hit a peak of 25% for one year. For most of the great depression unemployment hovered roughly around 10-11%. When I was a kid I was utterly convinced that leaving home at 18 was a necessary part of having a life, and that staying behind was utterly pathetic.
Admittedly in the years since then I have realised that it was a kinda stupid judgement to make in hindsight.. and I have absolutely NO fucking chance of ever buying my own home while stuck in this rental trap. And if anyone has the sense to remain with their parents to avoid paying rent so that they have some small chance of eventually making something of their life... that they should definitely do so.

govt is trashing their lives, has been for decades. Spending more than we earn and kids not prepared.

the only way kids get to good place is parents pass on the "wealth" and have careers with good pay and no debt.

others are wards of the state.

The housing market has failed. It's literally illegal to build housing in much of the United States. In Seattle most land is zoned for single-family homes. So although there is enormous demand for housing, it is not possible to build apartments in most parts of Seattle. Many other cities are the same -- there is demand but zoning makes construction very expensive as there is little land available.

It's multiple factors of course.. Like it being harder to live on your own. Back in the day on a the wages we get now you could comfortably raise a family.. Now you damn near need 6 figures to live comfortably depending on where you live. It's starting to become a smart decision to stay at home and save up. But also of course people are getting married later as well, and our values are not as strong as they once were.

It makes financial sense, Bidenomics has made home ownership all but impossible for most people who don't already have one and renting is an ever-increasing waste of money. The only reason to rent if you have the option to live with your parents is if your a guy and you don't want to look like a loser even though Biden has made losers of most of us.

I think it’s fine. I didn’t officially move out until I was 24. My friend still lived with her parents at 30. She’s their only daughter and they’re very family oriented. She’s a teacher with her own car and everything.

It is expensive to buy a house. Interest rates are high and the cost of housing is also at record highs. A person needs a hundred thousand dollars to get a decent house where i live.

I mean... it's easier. There's not really a ton to be excited about when you move out. Most people aren't making enough money to really live on their own. At least they have the chance to save up some cash.

It’s terrible and not getting any better all because of the ridiculous prices of housing which happened before inflation started, there’s no way incomes will ever catch up, they need to reduce taxes so things will go back down but that never happens, this country is in trouble until someone can fix the tax problem
