Is it a surprise to you if two indigenous Mexicans gave birth to a white baby?

Both have indigenous features, dark brown eyes and black hair. They are Latinos with traditional looks.

Their baby girl at the time (she's now 24) came out white, reddish hair and gray eyes. Both assumed their baby got switched and requested a DNA testing. The white baby is really their biological child. Both parents were carriers of recessive, white genes. They still had European blood in them, even by a smaller percentage.

Growing up, the girl would get asked by several people if she was adopted. Is this a surprise to you, when two indigenous Latino parents conceive a white baby?

no, this is not so uncommon as it sounds...

Mexicans are a mix of genes... even among those who consider themselves of native indigenous looks, they are still not "purely indigenous" they are also a mix...

and while yes, certain features are very characteristic and predominant within most of them... they are still a mix, and they still have some European genetic background, or African, or Asian, Islander, etcétera...

whether is the French genetics on the Gulf of Mexico's coast... the German genetics at the North of Mexico... the British genetics from the central regions of Mexico... or the Spanish genetics all over and across the country, and of course all that European background from Americans, you will always see "white skin" pop-up anywhere in Mexico

It's interesting how far that couple's white recessive genes got traced back. They supposedly knew no one alive in their family that were whites. They were able to trace their European ancestors; all long dead though. We're talking about great-great+ grandparents, that far back.

well.. when you think about, many of us are still carrying Neanderthal genetic bits, so yeah...

Actually the "gene" could jump as far as the 7th generation, for example all the "people" that i know in my family tree where no taller than 5'4-5'6... and all of them skinny, but a 4th gen Grandpa was like me (well me like him more)...5'11 and stocky built... so same with their gene, could be the same.

Yeah that's pretty much what happened to that Mexican couple. They didn't know of any whites alive within their family. The gene got traced back to their European ancestors that are long dead. The recessive gene went against all odds and a white baby was born again. Crazy how genes can pop up anytime isn't it!!!

Nope. Mestizos have partial Spanish heritage so the have the genes to produce a European looking baby.

No, the baby wasn't an albino. She was just a white baby.
