Birthday off mood?

My birthday is in few days and I’ll be 31.
I just don’t feel in the mood to celebrate or do anything with the things that going on in Palestine. Kids are getting killed, houses are getting bombed and I am celebrating birthday. Plus, I feel I am just getting older without accomplishing much. I am still single and work the same job, living with my mom while my friends are married with kids and living in their villas or building a house. Anyone ever felt this way?

I’ve had that funk before. Just do what I did at one point: reassess where you are and and what you want to do with your life. Make a goal list and start relentless, direct, and intentional pursuit of goals. Fitness goals. Home purchase. Dream job or career. Travel. Whatever. It helps to have a focus point. At least it did for me.


Also, birthdays are kind of fun but I think they do start to lose their significance at some point. I spent some alone, with huge groups. In Las Vegas. Camping. In other countries. At home. A bat. Nice restaurants. Whatever. I just add the experience to my story.

for sure. just don't compare yourself for others. if you don't want to celebrate, then don't. maybe put a different spin on it and see it as a time of reflection. what are your goals? think of a first step. p. s. i am turning 40 pretty soon and not too jazzed about that lol

I am currently doing MBA so at least I’m trying to do something useful. I have goals or things I wish for but very hard to achieve

When I was going to turn 30 I decided I will not stay in my country and will travel. I went to Switzerland and cried in my Radisson blu hotel 😂 better to cry somewhere nice than in my bedroom

umm give yourself some credit that is a big accomplishment. big goals require small steps

Yeah. Exactly the same. Perhaps you're doing even better than me so don't feel like you're not doing good. My birthday was last month and I didn't celebrate either coz of the exact same reason. The Gaza genocide is heartbreaking and disheartening. And sadly we can only watch it happen.

Yeah, there comes an age when you should stop expecting to make a big deal about your birthday.
