I am going to the city center of Shanghai, to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a Georgian student and her Irani friend.

It’s my first major girl outing with my crutches on.

Before then I just met my coworker near our workplace to drink coffee and now, I am going to celebrate the New Year, so excited, I hope all will go safely, as I am still scared of walking cause it hurts a little. As the fracture is barely 3 months old. And these are my first steps on my way to having fun again.

When is it, really? The Lunar New Year is celebrated by many cultures beside Chinese. Google a date and February 10th comes up for this year (2024). But it is actually an annual 15-day festival that begins with the new moon between Jan. 21 and Feb. 20 in Western calendars. The festival lasts until the following full moon.

I have seen celebrations in various places in the U. S. The biggest being in San Francisco. I don't know how the date for the big parade is scheduled, but in San Francisco this year it will be on Saturday, February 24th and last about two and a half hours, rain or shine.

Again, Chinese New Year officially begins February 10th this year.

Hey, can I ask you a question concerning Chinese New Year?

Will all business be closed for next week too? Sorry to be a bother but I'm having issues with a shipment from Shangai, and the company is not returning my e-mails.

They always replied within a day before and fixed many issues quickly, but I haven't gotten a reply in days. I want to assume it's because their office is closed due to holiday.

When I cam home tonight, my fiancee had prepared a typical southern Chinese New Year's Eve meal for us. She called her family in China today to talk with them. Yes, I can't forget that today is New Year's Eve.

Enjoy the Lunar New Year! My father was very religious and spiritual so I grew up celebrating it by praying to a few deities. I'm in the US so it starts tomorrow for me.
