If our male friend gave us a wrong location to meet up, he had bad intentions then?

Tomorrow a big group and I are going to a pool party. Each of us take different routes because we obviously don't live in the same town.

My friend (she only lives 10 minutes away from me) and I were going to meet up with our male friend. Let's call me John. He was telling us to meet near a University he lives closest to, saying it's westbound. However, upon checking through google and the map it's really Northbound. The place he wanted to meet us leads to really nowhere, it's kind of deserted, few buses go there and there aren't any campuses. It doesn't make sense at all.

Yesterday night, we corrected him on the address and by chance my friend's parents are got a family reunion a couple blocks near the University. So we told me her parents are taking us to meet him there. Then just a couple hours ago today, he canceled it and said he has other plans, can't make it and a bunch of excuses.

Given that we were given an incorrect location, the address he was saying is a deserted place leading nowhere with few buses, someone should know their own address and he canceled it after we mentioned my friend's parents will drop us off... then he had bad intentions?
