In my view, those who resort to spanking (hitting) their children are opting for a shortcut in parenting, which involves causing harm to teach lessons instead of investing time to guide them properly. It’s a fact that children are naturally curious, and punishing them for mistakes that may seem foolish or wrong to us isn’t the right approach.

I don’t believe spanking is acceptable or ever necessary.

a neighbor invited me and while i was there, argument... he hit his teen son who defended himself. broke his dad's elbow. dad needed a hospital and cast. what can i say? self defense.

I got spanked a few times by my father during my early childhood years and I don't agree that method. Even once is too much. How would you need to do it again? Doesn't make any sense. No, I DON'T thank him for that at all.

If I ever have the chance to have a kid, he/she will be taught without ever resorting to hitting. If they're too young to understand then precisely why you shouldn't hit them. If they're old enough to understand then you can already reason with them, why hit them?

i got hit once when i was young. i don't remember why. but we were in the car. and she slapped my face. it only made me distance myself from her. so i don't think that works out in the long run. i don't think it's okay and i will not be spanking my child. actually, i will do everything the complete opposite because of how much my childhood was messed up. break the cycle.
