Why does my sister choose boyfriend over family?

My parents are moving to a different house, and I am helping them pack things for months when my sister doesn't even show up and hangs out with her boyfriend. Why does she act like that? It makes me very angry.

Don't know but, my cousin did the same thing.
She had a boyfriend and they were at her parent's house for dinner one night and her dad made a joke that the boyfriend didn't like AT ALL and he refused to stay in that house or let her see or hear from anyone in her family ever again!! Other than a few very secretive calls to her family over the decades, she spent her last 30 or 40 years having no contact with her family and living under his tyranny! Shortly before she died of a brain tumour, she called up my mother (for the first time in 30 or 40 years) and told her what's been going on. Right in the middle of the conversation she excited said, "He's coming! I gotta go!" and immediately hung up the phone before mom could even say, "goodbye".
Rather than tell that controlling fuck to eat shit & die and go back to her family, she chose to stay with him!! This is yet another reason why it's VERY obvious to me that girls LOVE guys that treat them like shit and beat them up rather than guys like me that'd treat them quite well and cherish them.
Maybe all those cavemen were right and, the best way to win a woman's love and devotion is to club her over the head and drag her by the hair back to your cave! OBVIOUSLY, being nice and caring of them doesn't work! Otherwise, I wouldn't have spent the bulk of my life completely alone!

Because she makes him her priority the same way he is making her his priority , honestly that’s how a relationship lasts especially these days. , if you can’t prioritize your partner over everyone else , don’t expect your partner to prioritize you over everyone else , for a relationship to last and for love to continue to grow both partners need to choose each other over aeveryone else. If not? That relationship will more than likely not survive the long haul.

Anyone who puts their boyfriend/girlfriend before family is silly in my eyes. Marriage is a whole nother topic though.

Probably because of past issues

The reason I avoid my family is that I spent years trying to build healthy relationships with them, and they never reciprocated in a meaningful way.

Eventually I had to make the decision that it wasn't emotionally healthy for me to keep investing in them, and I stopped being proactive and started distancing myself.

O'course my take is that you should stop being so damned entitled. You don't own her just because you're related to her. She doesn't owe you. It is none of your business.

There could be a bunch of reasons why your sister isn't helping out. Maybe she's avoiding the stress of the move, or she doesn't realize how much work it actually is. Sometimes, people prioritize their relationships differently, and it might not even occur to her how much this affects you and your parents.

And while it’s easier said than done, try not to let her actions completely ruin your mood.
