Am I an idiot for also texting my coworker on ambulance groupchat?

Im admin assistant at hospital and our duty is 6am-6pm/6pm-6am Im on night duty and its aready 6 am and my coworker who is gonna change me for next duty is still not appearing. I know Dea is the one whos gonna be on next duty but she's not here. Its already past 6:38 am usually they are here before 6 because 6 is the start of duty. I texted our groupchat the info groupchat and another info groupchat which group that included our boss and I also texted the ambulance drivers groupchat that included us as well because as admin assistant on our duty we text the ambu drivers there if we have conduction. I texted the ambu I said "Info whos the next duty next to me? Up until now no one is showing. And Im so stressed what if no one showed up? What if my duty will be straight 24 hours because no one showed up I can't go out until no one is showing to work on next duty. Im so tense. Later Jee mentioned me on groupchat that she understands I want to go home but she doesn't understand why the need of me to text our issue on ambulance drivers? Like she sounded mad at me Just to be clear we are also part of ambu driver groupchat because its our part of our job to message the ambu driver whenver there's conduction. On 6 past am there's calling that there's ambulance conduction and Im so tensed what if no one showed up and Im already sleepy from my last duty. I texted Jee and I said sorry and I apologized I told her I just panicked I thought no one would show up. Jee said she will be a replacement for Dea today and she will be here before 8 am. She arrived at 7:56 am. And later on my boss mentioned me on groupchat saying she's sorry for me because I went home late and that Dea should have told earlier she won't coming today so Jea get prepared early to replace her. Im asking am I wrong for texting the ambulance drivers asking the next duty?

You were completely in the right. A matter of fact i would get angry that she was getting angry with you. She should be more professional then you wouldn’t have to put her on blast. Im on time for everything, built in me since elementary school. Being on time to work is important especially when its shift work and lives depend on you being awake at your 💯 percent.


Im betting the real reason she is upset is because she wanted to be able to be late without no one knowing just you and her while you take the hit with more time spent on the shift.

Im actually angry at her that she shame on groupchat. She mentioned me there. I just apologized and removed me message on ambulance groupchat. But I just remain professional but deep inside me Im angry because she's angry at me.

Dont let it seep. Speak to her directly and let her know so she doesn’t do it again. Tell her you post in chat if she dont show up on time or at least let you know she is going to be late. That way you have some insurance she will be on time

No, I don’t think you’re an idiot! It was clearly a stressful situation for you and you were just trying to find answers because nobody was showing up. Your boss seemed to realize how stressed you were too, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
