Should I apologize to my playstation friend for ghosting him on accident?

We met playing a game in 2020. He would message me and ask if I wanted to play some games. At first I would respond, but for some reason I didn't even notice his messages after that. He sent a LOT, and probably just gave up. He is still on my friends list. I was gonna message him and Apologize to him for nor responding to him all those years ago. What do you think?
