Is it normal for someone to have great difficulty making friends?

I know more than one person in this category and I believe their social barriers are a product of their personality and not their age.

I used to chat with a new female stranger every day while taking the bus to work, that is 300 discussions with 300 strangers a year.

If you are classified otherwise, your chances of meeting like minded people you can communicate with shinknto a quarter of the population. This group does better finding friendships directly related to an interest or a philosophy or something like that.

I think it takes longer depending on the person. It is good to meet new people though.

Of course. And it might be a blessing. Maybe they think about things deeper than anyone in their circle can understand.
