What is the best and worst thing about being a daughter in your opinion?

Depends on which daughter you are.


Youngest daughters have it the easiest of the three in my personal opinion. By that point your parents have nailed their parenting style to a T and know how to raise a kid, including daughters. You grow up independent, maybe a little babied, but you have a strong support network you can trust even with the worst parents possible.


Middle daughters struggle greatly, constantly seeking attention and approval but also following the social norms that say women cannot only not be the center of attention, but can’t make a scene if they’re upset. They turn into good kids who are massive people pleasers and struggle with internal validation.


In my personal opinion, eldest daughters have it the worst of the three. They’re not only the testing kid for the new parents, but they also end up parenting their younger siblings, if that responsibility isn’t also offloaded onto them by the parents. They’re also given the responsibility of being the “third party” in any parental spats because “you’re old enough to know this” but also old enough to be given tasks you’re not ready for. In the end, you have an adult so fiercely independent and openly combative she not only outshines every parent in the room without being one herself, but she happily unloads all the family secrets in the name of shaming her authorities and gaining her own power back that was taken from her so often as a child.

I can't think of anything as the best thing about being a daughter as nothing such happened to me for being daughter.

I can't even explain what to say as the worst among all when I see no advantage only disadvantages all along being a daughter.

I think the best thing is that you're usually pampered a lot and treated like a princess.

I'd say the worst thing is that your parents are overprotective of you and limit your freedom much more than you were a son.

This is all assuming you have a good, caring family.

The worst: Parents are so overprotective of you.

hmm, right, yes... although I don't have children of my own, I can definitely see that in the raising of our little ones in the family

but, how about being the only daughter, the older or the younger, middle daughter... does that changes anything?

Well I was the youngest child and youngest daughter and so you're always seen and treated like a little girl even if you are 33. And so everyone is always so protective over you especially now that my father is no longer around my mother and brother have taken on the role to perfection and so they're always very concerned about me in that way. It's a good thing and a bit overwhelming at times.

I see... I get how it can be a bit overwhelming at times, if they're overprotective a bit, but also kind of endearing, lol... sounds like you have a supportive family as well, and close enough

Of course. I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't mind it really. I am protective over them just as much.

I don't think there are any negatives related to the kid's gender... at least in my culture... just being a kid sucks :D

If your parents are conservative/close-minded people they may be injustice and spoil their sons more. This could be the worst and some fathers love their daughters if your dad loves you, you can be a daddy's girl and your dad may treat you like you are a princess. This might be the best but I am a man so I can't guess it perfectly. As a daughter what is the best and worst about being a daughter for you?
