Am I right to avoid an old friend who I heard dated a 15 year old girl when he was 24?

We are both 31, but back when he was 24, I saw a women post on fb about her 15 year old daughter dating a 24 year old man. If I remember correctly, my old friend and the girl were commenting and defending it. I just feel disgusted about it, and never looked at him the same way, so I've just been avoiding him ever sense.

It is really your choice depending on the friendship. If he is, or was a good friend who you still like and want to support, then it might be worth hearing his side or trying to be a good influence. But you are not required to be friends with anybody and if you don’t really want to be friends with him which it sounds like you do not, then I don’t think you need to worry about it at this point. Dude, that's messed up - I definitely wouldn't blame you for avoiding that guy after hearing about that. Dating a 15-year-old when you're 24 is straight-up predatory and illegal, no way around it. The fact that he and the girl were defending it just makes it even worse.

I get why you'd feel disgusted and not want to associate with someone like that. That kind of behavior is a huge red flag, and you have every right to distance yourself. Messing with a minor like that shows a serious lack of moral character.

Anyway, I'd trust your gut on this one, man. If something feels off about this guy, there's probably a good reason for it. Don't feel obligated to reconnect or give him another chance. Your safety and well-being should come first.
