It's an Illusion!.. they aren't best friends..

To Dogs , humans are far superior species.. we live 5 times their age and are far intelligent than them..

Dogs are born from Wolves, so they form a Pack like wolves, it's not a trait of a Dog, but of a Wolf!.

And if a Humans raises a dog, Dog consider that human part of the pack.

Imagine you being raised by a Being that is Basically a God, you will worship be loyal and be a perfect Servent to that GODLY BEING..

That's what it's for a Dog!. And it doesn't has a choice.

Dogs are pack animals and can commit to a human with their life as long as a bond is built and the animal is of that mind set where they are so. BUT not all dogs are like that. It depends on the particular dog-person combination. My dogs have always been in a category of their own bc they aren't human, but it is definitely a relationship. As well as a "friend" some have also served as my bodyguard! Who's a good boy?

I think loyalty of dogs is overrated. Objectively you as owner are the easiest way to get food and shelter. Even birds with their 10 gram brain love you when you give them food and some affection.
