Yeah I would definitely let the parent sit with their child, after all the parent needs to watch over them.
On a commercial aircraft? No. I bought my seat and chose where I want to sit ahead of time. It's not my problem you didn't plan properly or pay to choose your seats. You are not entitled to my seat. Go sit in the seats you chose or you were assigned. If you try to squat in my seat, you will be removed by force before you have any chance to cause a scene or call a crew member. The only reason I will feel sorry for your brat is that he or she has been stuck with you as a parent and a role model. Enjoy your flight.
I don't fly so I don't know how it's normally done.
If seating is random, then yes.
If you have to pay more to select your seat, and I paid more for my seat, then only if they paid the difference. Why should someone that refused to pay the extra money to ensure they were together still get to be together on MY expense?
It’s not random, we get the seat when we check in. But we also can buy the seats when we book te ticket online, to sit anywhere we want. Different seat sometimes different price.
Then definitely my second. I have no issue giving my seat to someone if they cover for the difference in cost, but I will NOT be giving my seat to someone that was unwilling to pay for what they wanted and just expected kindness to get them better things.
Should I book a specific seat then that’s where I will sit and I couldn’t care less if that’s not convenient to anyone else.
Where I’m allocated a seat I may swap dependent on the reason and what seat I’d be swapping to.
Thinking of long haul flights in particular this DOES matter ! 😂
You've got to be referring to the Brazilian woman who a week ago paid for her window seat, but wouldn't give it up just because the kid demanded their parent give it to them. 🤔
No, brats need to learn they can't demand anything they want. Though like others said, if it's not assigned seating, it's different. By the way... The window seat doesn't separate anyone, the middle seat does.
Since I'd be travelling with my child, no. And if I bought a window seat it's because you get a bit more space for your leg in front of you, which is important for me as I can't really remove my prosthetic on a long flight because I probably won't get it back on.
Two part question requires a two part answer...
Yes, to let the child have the window seat in my row. I'll move from window to aisle seat.
No to moving to another row/seat to let mother and child sit together. She should have picked seats next to each other, plus airlines are now required to sit families together
I couldn't even get a window seat for which I paid EXTRA. Pox on Allegiant.
Traveling solo, sure I'll change. Ill even switch my window seat for a child if possible, however if I'm traveling with someone then I'm not switching places for others to sit together. We booked our seats in advance, so could the parent have done.
Sure. Also, I prefer the aisle seat over the window seat — more leg room and the people in the aisle seat don't get sucked out of the plane like the window seat people do.
Usually i book the window seat for short flights and aisle for long flights.
If it is random seating, then maybe as long as it doesn't separate me from whoever I am flying with. But if it's a sign seating, then no I'm going to sit in the seat that I paid for.
Kids can have the window seat any time. When I travel alone, I'll swap with anyone who kindly asks me.
Sure. I'm not going to be lumbered with someone else's kids on a long flight.
It depends on the situation. Too many variables to just flatly answer such a question without knowing the actual context.
Wow recently in new York I had this first situation, and offered to switch so they can sit together but I wouldn't for window.
yeah... I do that all the time, parents, kids, elders... anyone else who seems to need it more than me
Depends how they ask, and where switching would put me. If I were the window, and the kid were middle and parent aisle, I'd probably take the aisle so she and the kid could move over -- if she were nice about it.
If changing seats is allowed I don't see a problem with it.
As long as they ask correctly.
Too many unknowns to really answer. Where? Restaurant? Car? Plane? Is the child trying to stay away from the "parent" for some unknown reason? (abuse? kidnapping?)
i would switch to let a kid sit with their parents but not if that means giving up my window seat. they can get someone else to switch.
Happened once on a flight to the UK. I got a business class seat out of it. 🙂
Sure why not. If it makes the kid happy that's cool.
sure why not as long as I still got a decent seat. don't care about window or not...
Yes, I have been known to do that.
I would even if i wasn't feeling happy to do so
no, if they wanna sit together they can pay for that, their laziness shouldn't concern me.
Probably, unless it was a very long flight or one at night where I needed to sleep.
Not if I specifically requested the window seat and paid extra to have it.
Probably not. I’ve been there done that myself. Married, one infant and one toddler. We did everything by bus and sometimes plane and we got by
If there is a child involved that, especially young and has never flown before, Yes!
Of course, I'd rather be by the aisle near the drinks
Yes of course, I don't like flying any way,,,
Id definatley change seats to get away from an unruly kid lol
So when the plane crash, your body would be send to the kid’s place 😂
wouldn't that be fun for his family lol
Open seating, yes; assigned seating, only if it is a hot single mom.
I would but that’s because I am a very nice person.
Of course I would.
Yes I’ll take the Aisle Seat
I have dont that and will definitely do it again
If I was flying alone, yea I would.
Yes I would
Yes. Why not?
Maybe because some pay more for the seats. And if you need the seats, you should just book and pay for the seats in advance.
Ah, I never pay extra for special seats. I was assuming like-for-like.
Sure
Yes of course. I have done this before.
Yes I would
