Is it morally wrong to give free food or drinks at my fast food job?

For example. I work second window where I hand. out drinks and food after they pay for it when they pull up at the drive through. Yesterday I guy pulled up and had a couple dollars, and was like "hey, I dont know if its too late but I wanna buy a large coke" I just said not. to worry about it, and quickly gave him a coke for free. I'd probbaly get fired or at least written up, but is it morally wrong?

If your manager is bright, he knows that giving free stuff, in moderation, to customers, is very good publicity. Because this guy getting a free coke will remember that and will tell his friends about it. Good publicity is a thing McD needs a ton, to compensate for the very bad publicity it automatically gets all around the world. So if you get caught, use that argument, a few cents of coke for a mini ad campaign is good business.

If your manager isn't bright enough to get that, take his position.

It's coke! Don't sweat it. Just a few days ago, I went through the drive through early in the morning for a coffee. I pulled up to the window, was handing my card to him and he said not to worry about it and gave it to me. That's good PR.

If the manager or store manager sees it they probably be mad. McDonald’s is stringy about it food cost every food count cost them out of their money. They see you doing it as often then they will say something to you that you are giving anyone free food.

Morally, no. It’s not an issue to do so. I doubt McDonald’s is going to care about one drink anyway

None of that belongs to you - you are giving away product that belongs to the store owner. So, obviously it's morally wrong.

Would you want other employees giving away food to their friends or family that came out of your paycheck?
