Why is my cousin ignoring my Instagram follow request?

I sent a follow request a few weeks ago. I checked it today and I see they added more people. What could be the possibility that they ignored me?

I agree with Jazzy about them possibly just not wanting you to see what they post. I feel like Facebook is more for family, and while sure Instagram is too (especially since it’s Meta), the content is subjectively different and is more for acquaintances and friends. Your cousin could worry that you’re going to gossip to your parents, her parents or something like that.

The only thing is we’re 3rd or 4th cousins and never met or talked in person. Her facebook pictures are from when she travels for work and some pics of her drinking and hanging with friends.

In that case, maybe you just aren’t close enough to add on Instagram. Doesn’t sound like you do much but lurk their profile in any case, which I don’t say rudely there’s just no other way to put it if you don’t engage with them much. Viewing their instagram would be more about quelling your curiosity over there vs just staying in touch to chat and whatever.

Well I tried reaching out by sending a facebook message. I found out recently that I I have a lot of 3rd or 4th cousins I’ve never knew existed. I thought it would be nice to connect.

In theory that’s a nice thought, I’d feel the same way. However it’s important to remember that not everyone will be interested in pursuing and maintaining those connections. This isn’t just exclusive to family, they may not care for new friends either, which is essentially what you’d be becoming. So try not to take it personally if that is the hint they’re trying to send.
