Adults who still obey controlling parents, what’s stopping you from asserting yourself?

I mean... i see a lot of people here who allow their parents to control them. Once you're an adult, they legally lose authority over you.

Some people struggle to set boundaries with their parents. Also, in many cultures, asserting yourself towards your parents is the highest form of disrespect.

Thankfully mine are not controlling or overbearing. It is quite the opposite of that. I am respectful enough to let them know what is going. on when I am home for the summer and in return they don't question my choices.

If they were controlling then I'd be much less likely to have the respect. While I am an adult I do live under their roof which means to a degree I have to follow some rules or get a place of my own.

it's not like everything automatically changes and fixes up itself... the day you turn 18, lol

Well, once you hit 18, the legal obligations of the parents go away.

Because, mentally speaking, they are not really adults. Some of the most immature people I come across are 30, 40 or even older. Look at the juvenile BS coming from people over 40 on here.

Regardless, legal authority of parents ends when the child hits 18.
