Have you ever reached out to someone you'd lost contact with (wondering why you'd lost touch) then suddenly REMEMBERED why once you started chatting?

It happened to me the other day. I ran into someone I knew from childhood and thought wow, how is it we lost touch? Presuming it was just a matter of life taking us different directions, we swapped numbers and started chatting. AND SUDDENLY it hit me like a stack of bricks... what a busy-body the person had always been, what a gossip, the fact that EVERYTHING has to be dwelled on for an eternity... Sigh...

Have you ever experienced something similar?

Funny you say that. It happened with an old friend in 2011. I saw him on Facebook ebook back when I did that. I said something like long lost friend. I hadn't seen him since 1999. Heh, he said, yeah, lost. And it hit me. When he broke up with Lynne he went kind of looney and got mad that I was still friends with her. I could tell he was still nuts. I'd been friends with her ainvmce 1992 and we became friends without him in the picture. She didn't even know him yet. I met him in 1987. They met in 1993 without my help.

The only person that fits that criteria is my mother, whom I haven't spoken to since I was 16. This is why I keep the recording of our final conversation any time she attempts to reach out. The one where she said she wished she aborted me, that I was nothing but the dirt under her feet, that I was worthless and would never amount to anything. I play it back so I can remember why I ripped her from my life.

Seriously? I'm so sorry you've gone through that. I have that situation with a relative saying that to one of my kids, though it wasn't true at all. Just saying it to my kid resulted in very horrible things and I cut that person out of my life for good.

I am sure it will happen when I'm older. So far I haven't had anyone disappear for long enough for me to forget. In that same spirit though, I forgot why I didn't eat at a specific place because it had been probably five years. I just thought "I don't eat there". Then I tried and it came back quickly lol

Not really , I sort of left my past behind. I still get notices about my high school class reunions. I never go because I do not wish to talk about the good old days because they really were not that good.

I had a girl ghost me after a really good first date. Maybe a year later, i reached out., we reconnected, then she ghosted me again. In that ballgame, two strikes and you’re out.
