I've used the words ''No bitting, it hurts'' a couple times on my toddler and then placed him down, ending the playtime session for a bit. It did hurt me to ignore him for a couple minutes and seeing him making the pouty face (along with crying for a bit) when I'm serious.
For a brief moment, I imagine laughing and making a brief joke, saying things like ''wow, you bite like a shark don't you'' but it wouldn't be correct either. I keep that moment to myself while remaining firm. I wonder if this happens to other parents, that even when they have to get firm/serious, they really feel like laughing?
