My mom has a dentist appointment in a city 3 hours away tomorrow, and im going with her. We are just gonna drive over, go to her appointment, go to Costco, drive by my brother's house to look at it (not go inside because they dont have the keys yet) then drive back. I like spending time with my friend so I was gonna see if he wanted to go with us. I told my mom this, and she was like "what? We are just gonna drive over and come right back". I said that i won't invite him if you dont want me to. She said that its fine if I do, but its just weird.

Yes, it is kind of weird to invite a friend basically to a dentist's appointment. Basically, it is nothing more than a 6 hours drive and a 2 hours wait time for the dentist and the external visit of a house.
I am surprised that your friend even agreed to go on such a trip. One of the problem I see is that the one of you guys has to sit in the back of the car while the other would sit in the front next to the driver. It would make it odd if both of you guys would sit in the back and leave your mom all by herself in the front. She may need someone to watch that she does not doze off during those long drives.
Work on your reading comprehension. I never said I already invited him, and that he agreed to go.
I don't see anything wrong with that. Just ask your mom first. I know my mom would not care if I did that considering she would be in an appointment. I would just say don't spring it on her out of nowhere.
