Is it normal for a child to scream super loud when you touch a toy or something of theirs?

So I don't have a child myself but me and my friend as well as his wife and two kids were at the pool the other day, one of them 3 years old and the other 6.

Me and the 3 year old were swimming around in the pool and he showed me his toy bucket and was talking about how cool it was and how it could carry so much water, and then I got a bit closer to get a better look and show interest and then touched a single index finger onto the bucket and the 3 year old began screaming like crazy and so loud my ears even blead a little.

He did stop screaming the second I removed my index finger away from the bucket.

Point taken he didn't want me to touch his toy but what the fuck? I didn't even pick it up or put a full hand on it or anything I literally just laid a finger on it.

Is this normal children behavior or is my friend's 3 year old just weird?
