With holiday parties and winter upon us, now is the time to really indulge your wardrobe with all manner of metallics for the winter season. This shiny fabric is definitely not for the shy because it is an instant attention grabber if ever there was one but beware because it can easily go wrong.

When you wear metallics, keep it simple. It is easy to go from super cute, to foil wrapped burrito if you load on the metallic fare. Styling it is easy if you stick to one piece set against neutral colors or other colors with no additional graphics, writing, or designs about them. You can also just use it more as an accent, like a gorgeous metallic headband, shoe, purse, or jewelry.

Don't be afraid to mix and match with other fabrics for an eclectic vibe. Pair your metallic with leather or lace or tulle. If you do dare to go head to toe metallic, turn down the volume on any accessories that you pair your outfit with. Style in reverse of the one piece, and use a jacket, scarf, bag, or shoe in a neutral color, or non-competing color, to tone down the shock of that much metallic.

You can also wear your metallic in your make-up and nails, rather than just your clothing. By wearing it alone you can allow it to be the star or accent to an outfit. Metallic make-up stuns on darker skin because the pigment pops, but more bronzy or silver metallics look great on most skin tones, but just as with your clothing choices, keep it simple--a lipstick or an eye look, but a lipstick, and eye, and a cheek, and a metallic hair accessory can overwhelm and become a bit clownish.
