Too many times I’ve seen questions asking “who is prettier?”, and for some reason it is always between two white women who are usually celebrities. I’m tired of the idea of beauty only being subjected to fair skin women, when for me I believe all races are beautiful. This take in particular is celebrating beautiful women who aren’t fair skinned and don’t have euro centric features. But women who are beautiful in the skin they are in.

Those women are absolutely gorgeous, the erasure of black women and people is still being done in my country. I wish dark skin black women and other women of color were promoted more in beauty ads, given more serious lead roles, and just uplifted ever now and then to let them know that their beauty and existence matters too. Both of my grandmothers were dark skin and majority of the women in may family are as well, no matter what society has said about dark skin I will never let it drive a wedge between me or them.

If it helps, I think that the 'who is prettier' posts with two white women are probably posted by white women or men.

With race being a touchy topic, it is often far safer for white people to not attempt to compare a white person with a person of colour for fear of backlash or even inviting racism in the comments.

And as human beings tend to associate themselves best with those who they physically resemble, these people will probably always pick at least one white person. Until the bridge between people of all colours is closed, this will probably stick around.

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I like to believe that the majority of people are trying to avoid trouble or are being conscientious rather than actually believe that white people are more beautiful simply because they are white.

Mainstream media is portraying more people of colour than ever, and it's only improving worldwide! I am hopeful that this will improve more and more with every passing year.

I don't understand why it's so sexualised but most things nowerdays are. Also I hTe being referred to as coloured it's really not nice. And I don't think you should celebrate us, because it makes us feel even more different. For example when you're celebrating something it's because it's that day is a different kind of day.

So I guess what I'm saying is- does anyone remember what Morgan Freeman said about being black, basically that.

And being a Muslim myself I really hate that picture, filled with soooo much hypocrisy that everyone can pick on- that's just a side note. Don't know why I'm mentioning it.😉

There is a lot that can be written about this. I'm white but have had some dates with black and Island women. I had sex with Vietnamese women in the 60's. I prefer light skin tome women. As beautiful as a deep dark nipple and areolea can be I still prefer the pink and red of lighter women. I don't find the large pores of so many blacks as being unattractive. Also, there is a predisposition against seeing black women as beautiful because of the anti-men or the big mouth screw you conversations black women promote on TV and in person.

Kind of divisive. Wanting to be a catered to group and treated special. Why would you specifically single out women of color to promote? This agenda you feel that only "fair women are promoted as beautiful" is just your own hang up, I've never seen any promo out there called "beautiful white women"... there isn't. Therefore why would I not find your celebrating women of COLOR agenda nothing but divisive and pitting one group against another group.

It's not divisive when what you usually see praised I the media is your typical white chick. Recognizing that non-European features are just as beautiful is not divisive it's giving someone who doesn't fit the norm a chance to feel good about themselves and recognize the beauty that they have.

That is true... I hate that even if you do a google search of 'beautiful' or 'beautiful woman', only white women come up. Why? I don't think they're any better looking than women of other ethnic groups. Great take!

First of all, many of the companies you speak of aren't even black owned anymore, and are ran by white people so in the end they're still in charge of things. Second of all, there's plenty of white women and non-black poc women in rap video's because that's what is in. HELL, there's plenty of songs BASHING darker skinned women and these rappers are making millions off of it. There's ads for skin bleaching items in places where white people aren't even the majority because the promotion of pale skinned still managed to make it's way there. You say 200, but it's far less than that. You couldn't even name 200 (because they don't exist) compared to the far higher count of magazines and media praising paler skin. Don't even lie to yourself.
