I often tell my husband that I alternately feel for and adore modern men, for who else could put up with the near basket case, complex and emotional natures we women are privy to displaying?
I think Meredith Brooks said it best when she coined that song "Bitch"
"I'm a bitch
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between"
Salute Meredith, you got it down in a nutshell.
Thing is, as much as we may nag, and as much as men may groan, we are such a great compliment to one another. Sure, some men bitterly exclaim we are "stuck up," and envision doting wives who will hand them slippers and sit at their feet, but I know for a fact that most, if not all, would be bored silly within the first month if they landed such a wife.
That is because American Father loves his American Mother. She is spirit and fire, with arms of bronze, and a heart of gold. She comes in many shades and colors; her heritage a hybrid of cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. She embodies the spirit that once birthed the frontier and cradled a fledgling American civilization. She braved harsh weathers, learned to shoot a rifle and fed the solider who came bleeding to her door.
Yes, Father needed that girl who wouldn't flinch as she dug buckshot out of his arm, and gave no thought to herself as she nursed him back to health. She replaced steelworkers and mechanics when the fighting men went off to war and took the head of Presidents into her hands as he cried for our lost sons. All this, and she still managed to darn the holes in the knees of her child's one good pair of jeans teaching that child the value of appreciating the things money cannot buy.
Sometimes she was all lady; other times she could drink any man under the table, but she was always an American sweetheart.
Needless to say, American men want women with sass, class and a whole lotta--cash (what did you think I was going to say...?)
The men who often complain about the strength and Spirit of an American woman are men who can't keep up with her.
It is a new day and a new era, and the next generations of American women will be just as gutsy as her predecessors, but unlike many man-hating feminazi's, will understand the beauty of her own femininity and that it is okay to express it and still be a proud woman.
American women are evolving and growing, exploring our sexuality, learning the balance of loving others and loving herself, accepting her own mistakes, licking her wounds and becoming wiser. She is teaching her kids to be independent yet respectful of the rights of others, and her husbands how to be sensitive and caring while continuing to hold the title of strong and passionate male.
She is that coveted and reverent Miss, the beloved Mother, fierce, proud, unrelenting, beautiful, and sincere, and she will never settle for less...
"You know you wouldn't want it any other way!"

I fear you don't get what I was trying to say--this nation is what bred the women that is a US woman-she came from hard times and had to be tough as nails--this meant not acting as if she didn't have a want or needs as people trampled all over her emotions and feelings--it meant actually acting as if we have worth....I find that men who want women from other cultures wanted easily manipulated door mats who won't sic up for themselves...
To be frank, most modern US women ARE pretty bitchy and it's nothing to be proud of or try to explain away...it's not strength, it's shallow shopaholic bulbbleheadedness in most cases.
That's why we all are trying to date Asian women..
She is...simply put because SHE IS. When she was faced with the question of 'to be or not to be' she chose to be, and that's why she is.
Happy belated Mother's Day A-R!
