This isn't new.
Also the fashion in awards show are about showing off designers pieces not about respecting those who get awards. A lot of these people don't actually have a lot of say in what they wear. In likes of the Met gala the only reason celebs are there is because the designer invites them to join a table if they wear their clothes. Lucky if you get to pick between two pieces.
