Do you ever feel like your deceiving people by wearing makeup? If so, how do you cope with it?

So strangers can say I'm pretty and guys can look at me when I'm out, I guess on a scale I'm a 8-9 with makeup (based on others) but without it I feel like I sink down to a 4-5. I feel like I'm deceiving the guy I'm dating (along with anyone who finds me pretty) because underneath my makeup I haven't been blessed with flawless skin or thick eyebrows. I'm not one of those girls who can look flawless just waking up and all I need is a little lip-gloss before I'm out the door. I don't do heavy makeup but I do cover what I'm ashamed of.

I have red acne scars on my cheeks and I have really sparse eyebrows , so I feel like whenever someone finds me beautiful I simply can't take it to heart because I look ugly underneath it. So I've been dating this guy now for 4-5 months and he has never seen me without makeup. I just can't handle that ''disappointment'' or him thinking I'm less pretty.

I used to wear makeup.

Once I went to a date, I dolled up. I wore a red dress, with high heels and curled my long hair. I wore natural makeup.
I met the guy. The date went well.
Then later he texted saying he didn't like the way I looked. I was ugly to him.

That broke my heart. I was at work when I got the text and I ran into the toilet. Cried a little. I got over it.

Then I started dating again. This time I wore my jeans, a simple top. I tied my hair in a pony tail and wore no make-up.

And guess what I've been with this man since almost 3 years.
I am not the most beautiful woman, I have all kinds going on.
But I can wake up in the morning with all my flaws and know he still finds me beautiful.

Now you can take what you want from my story.
The moral here was if you feel like you need to cover and be scared then he might not be the one for you. Just show him what you really look like. It's better he leaves you now than 10 years after... when you dived well in the relationship.

Relax. Makeup has been a thing for years. It’s part of being a woman especially this day and age. I say at least you do things to keep yourself up and feeling attractive! That’s all that matters! Compared to someone who doesn’t put effort into their appearance and had the “it is what it is” type of attitude!

Guess what! Men watch porn and look at movie stars and magazines and models, so us women see what their attracted to, and try to be that to attract them! We’ve been taught from an early age what beauty standards are these days. So we all try to look and feel how we think we should. If YOU feel beautiful with makeup on, then wear makeup girl! Wear makeup however you want. It’s not up to other people. Of course, don’t look like a drag queen, but look like an enhanced you. It’s not deceiving.

If wearing makeup was deceiving, then I have the right to demand for guys to stop wearing cologne, stop shaving your beard, etc. Because that’s not “natural.” People just like to cherry-pick and say that makeup is the only thing in the world that is unnatural and “deceiving”.

Isn't that the whole point of make-up, that it's meant to improve you? And covering an acne scar or something like that is perfectly acceptable imao. What I don't like is seeing a girl plastered with a ton of make-up that's obviously completely overdone, I start to think "wow, she must be really ugly under all that, she's trying to cover it up". Make-up only does so much for you anyway, it can't turn a thorn into a rose lol 🌹
Just for what it's worth, as a guy I've never worn make-up until recently, I'm often seeing clients and was starting to get worried about my appearance as I have blemishes or even acne still occasionally so I got it sorted at a make-up counter locally. I don't use it often, and only if I'm out selling usually or meeting new people.

Sometimes I do think about if makeup does decieve people because it changes the way you look but not by a lot, makeup enhances features and does cover up blemishes but I'm sure your boyfriend knows that people do have blemishes and makeup makes people look different. Also when people compliment and say you are beautiful and pretty they could mean your personality and you as a whole are beautiful. Regardless, your face is your face and even with makeup it's still your face it just has product on it to enhance your eyes or cover blemishes. You are not deceiving people or your boyfriend by wearing makeup you are simply making yourself look the best it can be

I didn’t when I wore makeup all the time but now I rarely wear any and I do feel it’s deceiving when I wear it because I’m not used to seeing myself with makeup. However I think it depends on how much you wear. If you wearing just enough to balance your complexion and make your eyes pop I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. If you’re wearing full coverage and highlighting/contouring everyday that does seem pretty fake.

I also feel fake when using makeup, but that's bc it's drag... Anyways you should simply try not to wear it for a day, and reguardless of feedback, you will feel better. Show yourself, if people don't want anything to do with you bc lack of makeup, you shouldn't want anything to do with them. Wear it on nice occations, not as a standard.

To be honest, I find women to be more attractive without makeup. Some look absolutely atrocious with it and most are obviously wearing it. There is on significant issue with wearing makeup all the time. It does affect the skin and won't look nearly as good as one that never wears makeup.

If they look bad with makeup or its super obvious, they're probably bad at makeup or intend it to look that way. Good natural looking makeup is not obvious without looking closely at someone's skin or if you already are familiar with what they look like without makeup.

If I can even notice the makeup, it takes something away. With the exception of lipstick. Adding color looks really nice sometimes.

Eeh, you still don't necessarily know that what it takes away is more than what it gives (like foundation to cover acne or whatever). But anyway, with stuff like good foundation, blush, and like rain especially it can be real hard to tell the makeup is even there if done well. Though yeah, to some degree it is all up to personal preference- there's definitely makeup looks, even really well done and naturalish ones that I find unappealing.

No, I think I look better without make-up, so I hardly ever wear it. It only looks good to me if someone is really good at applying it. I don't feel like I'm deceiving anyone on the very rare chance that I actually decide to wear it, because I look as good without it.

I've been feeling the same way these days, a few days ago I asked my friend some questions related to beauty and appearence and he said that I was a 6.5 or 7 and I can tell u that there are some girls that he thinks pretty that I do not, so it really depende some people will say that you're a 8-9, others may say that you're a 4-5, and girls feel more comfortable when using makeup (at least my friends and I) so just use it ok? And if he see u without it (considering that he likes u) he won't find any defects, au contraire he will see that you're still gorgeous :) (that's my opinion:p)

True beauty has nothing to do with how you look. It's how you feel, how you act, and how you treat yourself/others. The deception isn't in the makeup, the deception is you pretending the makeup makes you pretty. Acne scars, and eyebrows are probably a lot lower on the appearance scale for men than you might think. Accept yourself, for the beautiful and amazing person you are. If anyone thinks they're entitled to tell you you're ugly, or not as good as someone else, including you, they're wrong.
