its way too hot here in summer and i wish to wear short skirts or shorts to get cooler. but there a length rule in my school's dress code to ban skirts and shorts no longer than mid-thigh. why my skirts and shorts length must be limited?
Generally, places of business have fixed standards and dress codes. (I've never heard of the sunglasses one... but shirt/skirt/pants/dress lengths... yes.)
Actually what's suggested in the picture is still REALLY too short and "racy" for a place of business (where knee-length skirts/dresses are suggested, etc. etc.).
Mid-thigh skirts became a massive professional trend at some point, but was repeatedly replaced by the classic pencil skirt. Meanwhile the micro skirt made a massive comeback, but have morphed into the "too short" (barely scarf-length things with deep slits)... which makes me wonder why we don't just all go back to wearing fig leaves like in the bible... The same goes for tops... some are very obviously meant to be more for the beach than for the office.
We all need to apply some common sense where these things are concerned. If a person wants to be taken seriously... typically wearing something that isn't visually distracting helps others hear and see YOU and not just your body.
This is a lesson most individuals learn at school or at home (or both) over and over again until they figure out what a reasonable "Golden Standard" of attire is. Regionally, some places are also more conservative than others.

We had dress codes too at my high school. Boys also could not have hair over their collar. But then you are going there to learn, not to a fashion show or to see how skimpy of an outfit you can get away with. I bet there are more school pregnancies today with the way girls dress than when I was in high school. But then I'm a relic. 🤔🤣😂😎
Mid-thigh is a lot shorter than the dress code when I was young. While standing, it was close to knee length. But it was measured while sitting on their heals on the floor, which pulls the skirt up. I could be no more than 4 inches above the knee.
Girls had to wear dresses or skirts - no pants or shorts. Even in the winter when it was -20 they had to wear skirts.
Guys had to wear long pants, and fully buttoned down shirts with collars.
No T-shirts, or any shirt with pictures, logos or text.
Guy's hair could not touch the collar or the ears when pulled straight down.
Guys had to wear their shirt tucked in.
No open toe shoes for girls or boys.If someone violated the dress code they would get sent home. If they violated it often enough, they'd get spanked with a wood paddle.
There are a couple of reasons, 1st one is ensuring standards are in place, for example everyone wears uniform and it’s to the same standard, it’s easier to make sure people are not breaking agreed rules.
then for others it’s often society being judgmental, some is necessary as things like wearing jeans around your knees is a fairly stupid look and people will comment.its one of those things that also changes between regions and countries, a mini skirt or dress in one country will be acceptable but in another would see you arrested

Ah, the dreaded dress code dilemma! 😅 It can definitely feel limiting, especially when trying to stay cool in the summer. The reason behind these length rules usually comes down to maintaining a distraction-free environment. Schools often aim to encourage an atmosphere of respect and focus, which is why they implement specific dress codes. Even though it might not always feel fair, especially during those scorching days, the idea is to find a balance between personal expression and a communal sense of decorum. It's tough, I know! But hey, on the bright side, it challenges your creativity in putting together outfits that are both cool and compliant. Maybe flowy, breathable fabrics can be your best friends during the summer months? 😊✨

simply to promote a sense of professionalism n decorum among students
HS Teacher here! It's becuz your dress will disrupt learning for the boys. It's the most amazingly sexist policy devised. Check your agenda book or school board website - it will say WHY the dress code is in force. Here's what you do: organize the guys to wear the same clothing. Take pix before and after. Get HARD DATA on how many referrals, warnings, etc from faculty. Then go to school board and tell them to go fuck themselves. If you REALLY wanna fuck with the faculty, when they call a guy/girl out for their dress just reply "Well why were you looking pedo?" Lmk how it goes
it's true that it's hot and you want to feel pretty, but putting on "extra" clothes could disrupt the concentration of the other students, of course, it's not your fault but for the good of all and to keep the atmosphere professional, rules must be put in place. imagine you study in a catholic school, you wear a uniform, down to the shoes, be happy, you can choose what you wear.
it's better to follow these rules, school is just a small episode in your life, afterward you can wear whatever you want
Dress codes are for everyone , and are a vital part of any school / club , a sense of dignity , and a sense of uniformity , length makes no difference to heat if you wear the correct attire , its hot here all the time , and the school and university uniforms are longish ( by your measures ) Your requirement make very good sense and are logical choices.
Because you’re a woman and you’re constantly self objectifying yourself by posting specialized images to the internet which turns men and boys on. Schools aren’t strip clubs. Men are already demonized in college and universities don’t make it worse for them
Mostly olders view of modesty. They do not want you to show your girly bits. But that takes away one of a teenage hope to catch a glimpse of the forbidden fruit. I always hoped to catch the girl with no panties and went to heaven a couple of times. Now I am a dirty old man and still hoping!
Your school seems to have a modest dress code policy and I don't see nothing wrong with that. I also went to a school that had a strict and modest dress code.
That sounds like roughly the same dress code my school had. Suck it up and learn to enjoy it, because that's more lenient than things will be working in the "real world."
Simple answer too many kids don't have enough sense to not look like hookers !!!
I know by media and seen in many countries schools uniform skirts leanth is very short such as mini skirts.
I agree with you, schools should relax about outfits for summer season.
Allowing shorter bottoms and shorter tops.
They’re prudes and they can’t legally ban them just for girls so they ban them for everybody
It's to stop the teachers getting a stiffy in class
Without control you girls will immediately don the hoe uniform and start strutting.
Because women always find a way to sluttify anything and everything
I didn't know... I think rules like this are dumb.
To make decorum among the students
