As a darkskin black woman why do I get more compliments and attention from strangers/people when I wear blue, red or pink hair opposed to black hair?

No matter how nicely my hair is styled, if its black I get ignored and never get any compliments on it unless its a crazy color like blue, pink, vivid red, etc I wore blue hair and got so many compliments in one day that it was crazy. One girl even wanted to take a picture of me and show it to her daughter. I felt like a celebrity. However the moment I switch back to black hair, its crickets. Is it because I'm darkskin with dark brown eyes and people find this not as interesting or beautiful?

It's not that you are less beautiful with black hair or anything. It's just that those other colors make people stand out more. Thats with anyone. Right now I am wearing my natural hair and I didn't think it looked bad (because I usually wear blonde) So I was feeling some type of way lol. When you wear a more natural color its just that sometimes your not as noticed as you were with a color that stood out to everyone. Does not mean your less beautiful :)

I'm not noticed with darker hair because I'm darkskin w/ brown eyes, people just don't find darkskin all that attractive. I wish I had fair skin then I would need unnatural colors to stand out

Because it receives more attention compared to black hair. I have gotten way more attention when I dyed my hair purple or pink.

Well don't take this the wrong way, but no it's not as interesting. Now let me explain... people with black hair, that's as common as it gets. Its vanilla. You don't usually see people with blue hair. If blue hair was the norm, then the rarer black hair would be more interesting.

So there's nothing objectively wrong with black hair, people are just very used to seeing it.

I also notice that white girls with black/brunette hair will get compliments on their hair but when I wear the same color no one cares

Yes and no. It's still naturally rarer but you see it often due to women dying their hair blond.

I just wish I got the same amount of attention from wearing darker colored hair styles. I put in effort in every style I wear but for some reason no matter how good the hair looks, if its black nobody notices me or my hair. I guess I'm not that pretty

Because complimenting someone on their natural hair is rather presumptuous, and can be taken the wrong way. But when you have your hair an unnatural color it is evident that you intentionally made it that way and want the attention it draws, so it is much safer to compliment it without offending.

I've witnessed people compliment other women on their natural hair ALL THE TIME and its never taken the wrong way. How is complimenting someone's natural hair any different than complimenting someone's eye color? No one would think its presumptuous to tell someone with blue eyes that their eye color is pretty

I’m sure your naturally beautiful. But being natural is average. If your hair is colored, it’s obvious you put forth effort to make your appearance stand out. People can notice that instantly, and compliment easily.
