Can downturned eyes be considered a beautiful feature?

I never heard of eye classifications, yet recently I went to a makeup course and the teacher was very emphatic over how downturned eye can downplay a person's beauty.
My eyes are downturned, they look a lot like a combination of these celebrities eyes ( Katie Holmes and Camilla Belle). When I smile they sort of show their downturned-ness.

Would you think downturned eyes look sad, ugly, etc?

I just use very little make up, mostly a lipstick and mascara. Yet this comment made me a bit self-conscious.

It has to be severely overboard for it to have a significantly negative impact.

If you have a resting depressed face well that's another issue...

Anything can look good once its suits the person. If its beautiful depends on the rest of other features and the combination of it all.
