Yes it’s a real thing, if you’re going to argue it isn’t than at least prove your point somehow than just making a blanketed statement and bringing nothing to the table.
With that same exact logic it’s like you going up to your boss and saying you want a raise and when they ask you why you should get a raise you just answer by saying because you said so?
Dreads have been found in multiple cultures. I don’t think you can appropriate dreads but you can be disrespectful about them. Like for example, ignorant people that say that dreads are dirty or think dreads can’t be washed even though a quick google search can educate people on dreads
@JessJayNeak I’m tired of your non sense, if you’re gonna act stupid than don’t talk to me. I already explained to you what cultural appropriation is and you just want to make yourself look dumb at this point t
Dreads have roots in African American culture as well. No black person wears dreads to disrespect dreads? Black people know good and well the stigma that comes behind wearing dreads so your claim that black people wearing dreads is appropriation is just straight up ridiculous
Look how's talking. As at the moment I said black people appropriating dreads, which you said originally were from India, you started with this bs response
I’m assuming because 1) you’re black but for some reason don’t understand cultural appropriation and 2) majority of people on this site are middle aged white men
I never got defensive over anything about dreads, I answered your question about their origin and now for some reason when I call you out for not answering my question now I’m getti defensive over something I was never defensive over to begin with. Lol, alright?
1) it's not a thing 2) I've been around white people all my life and have no problem enjoying our culture. You're speaking about it as if it's a bad thing
I said what you did makes you sound stupid, not that you where stupid. Don’t take it personal, no hard feelings.
The reason why I called you stupid is because you claim that cultural appropriation doesn’t exist yet when I questioned you and asked you to give me a valid reason as to why you think this way you just ignored me which leads me to believe you don’t know what you’re talking about. Which would be inherently stupid for you to believe something blindly without having a valid claim or backing behind what you believe in.
Cultural appropriation is bad, give me a reason why stealing someone else’s culture and trying to rebrand it as being your own culture isn’t bad?
So I guess you’re just choosing to be ignorant. I never said that engaging and taking on a culture is cultural appropriation. At this point I’m wondering if English just isn’t your first language cause I’m pretty sure I’m just repeating myself at this point...
I don’t think white girls should wear box braids cause they weren’t made for their hair type/texture so it might pull on their scalp too much since most straight hair is on the thin side compared to curlier hair types but I don’t really care if a white girl wears braids as long as she isn’t being disrespectful and trying to say she created it or doing it cause it’s trendy but bashing black girls that wear the same hairstyle
Probably not. I prefer getting my hair braided by Africans because they usually charge less. If a white girl did it I could imagine them over pricing it
Actually, black people don’t always talk about race. In my experience whenever black people want to talk about something like cultural appropriation or slavery it’s white people that always abuse the race card and make everything about themselves and their white fragility. Which I could care less about. It’s borderline narcissistic in my opinion

No, it doesn't. How can you appreciate the culture of others if you don't share it?
You didn’t even read the description. I said that if you’re disrespectful with another culture than that’s one thing
If you're trying to sound woke, then it's not working
Lol, ok?
If you can’t even make one valid argument, than just say that?
You're speaking about "cultural appropriation" as if it's a true thing. Your argument is a non-argument
It falls flat
Dreads for example. Do you know who made them?
Dreads have been found in multiple cultures. I don’t think you can appropriate dreads but you can be disrespectful about them. Like for example, ignorant people that say that dreads are dirty or think dreads can’t be washed even though a quick google search can educate people on dreads
Who were the first to do so? Do you know them?
Research says it originated in India. It has spiritual origins in Indian culture. They have a dreadlock deity called Shiva
So, black people wearing dreads is cultural appropriation right?
@JessJayNeak I’m tired of your non sense, if you’re gonna act stupid than don’t talk to me. I already explained to you what cultural appropriation is and you just want to make yourself look dumb at this point t

Since you know everything about cultural appropriation define what it is for me 😐
Didn't you said they ORIGINATED in India. Key word: ORIGINATED
And now your just avoiding the question, aight
You didn't answer mine
Also, cultural appropriation is not a thing
I did, I said dreads originate from India. Tf else do you expect me to say? Now answer my question where I asked you to define cultural appropriation
And black people took that as their own right? Isn't that cultural appropriation?
www.ikyg.com/videos/white-women-with-braids/
Here’s a video explaining cultural appropriation perfectly.
So cultural appropriation is only applicable when white people do it, right? Is that what you're saying?
😂 notice how I never said that?
Leave your white fragility out of this?
That's what you're implying. If you didn't, then you wouldn't have been so defensive when I mentioned black people and Indians when it comes to dreads
Also, I'm black
Nice job assuming things
I’m assuming because 1) you’re black but for some reason don’t understand cultural appropriation and 2) majority of people on this site are middle aged white men
I never got defensive over anything about dreads, I answered your question about their origin and now for some reason when I call you out for not answering my question now I’m getti defensive over something I was never defensive over to begin with. Lol, alright?

Yes, you have. You tried to call me stupid
Uneducated and assumed I was white
I said what you did makes you sound stupid, not that you where stupid. Don’t take it personal, no hard feelings.
The reason why I called you stupid is because you claim that cultural appropriation doesn’t exist yet when I questioned you and asked you to give me a valid reason as to why you think this way you just ignored me which leads me to believe you don’t know what you’re talking about. Cultural appropriation is bad, give me a reason why stealing someone else’s culture and trying to rebrand it as being your own culture isn’t bad?
"Stealing" culture is not a human trait. Appreciating culture is.
I could say the same with black people with dreads. Or East Asia copying the West and many more
Also, it would be WAY more concerning if people DIDN'T engage in other people's cultures. Because that's what we are. We want what we like
So I guess you’re just choosing to be ignorant. I never said that engaging and taking on a culture is cultural appropriation. At this point I’m wondering if English just isn’t your first language cause I’m pretty sure I’m just repeating myself at this point...
Because you're getting worked up for an ignorant argument. How old are you?
No one said I was getting worked up but ok 👹
They why are you offended on behalf of people?
That's what means getting worked up
No one said I was offended but you..
Then why are you making this question and speak only against white people when everybody does it?
You don’t understand what appropriation is, I’m literally losing brain cells
Because it's not a thing
No, because the vast majority of what people point to is prevalent in multiple cultures.
No, we keep copying/pasting each other all the time, there's no copyright in cultural costumes.
Sort of a thing, and when it happens, very obnoxious.
I see that a lot here in the united states
How so?
Taco bell is an example lol
Nope, it ain't a thing.
The Witcher Netflix show is cultural appropriation
Do u mind
White girl with box braids
I don’t think white girls should wear box braids cause they weren’t made for their hair type/texture so it might pull on their scalp too much since most straight hair is on the thin side compared to curlier hair types but I don’t really care if a white girl wears braids as long as she isn’t being disrespectful and trying to say she created it or doing it cause it’s trendy but bashing black girls that wear the same hairstyle
What about a white girl operating a business where she offers box braids and does them good?
Most white girls don’t even know how to do braids like that cause they aren’t taught how to manage kinky curly hair textures in hair technician school
But what if she was good? Would you get it done with a white girl?
Probably not. I prefer getting my hair braided by Africans because they usually charge less. If a white girl did it I could imagine them over pricing it
@doopayo what are your thoughts on why black people always talk about race all day? Do you think about race everyday?
Actually, black people don’t always talk about race. In my experience whenever black people want to talk about something like cultural appropriation or slavery it’s white people that always abuse the race card and make everything about themselves and their white fragility. Which I could care less about. It’s borderline narcissistic in my opinion
I don't know I think black people bring up race the most. I’ve never seen Asians or Hispanics talk about race
That’s because I doubt you have many Asian friends. Also Hispanic isn’t a race, I myself am a black Hispanic. Hispanic is an ethnicity.
My Asian friends have all had to deal with racism especially because of this pandemic and covid which has increased hate crimes for Asians.
Hispanic means of Spanish origin so there’s many races within the ethnicity but it’s mostly Mexicans.
Mexican again isn’t a race, it’s an ethnicity. black Mexicans exist.
And Hispanic means you’re from a Spanish speaking country
But this isn’t even on topic, we’re talking about appropriation
I’m asking why black people always talk about race all the time
Black people talk about race all the time because white people made race a thing.
