Does anyone in the world actually finds botox lips good to look at, even light? Why does this practice exist?

In my native country, TV is full of women who decided to destroy their face and beauty by adding botox to their upper lip. It's always visible when they get this body modification, even when light, and it looks horrendous, like if they've been stinged by a wasp. It's always obvious when big lips are natural and when they're made with injections. Yet, more and more of those TV ladies do that, like if they can't see how it looks bad on the others. I saw recently a middle aged woman in real life who sells bread, who used to be decent, but then decided to get that treatment and I can't avoid being quite grossed out by her looks, I can't "not notice", like if she has a condition or something I should feel sorry for, like if she got an accident. Same is the opinion of the other customers I know.
Thing is I literally never met, online or in real life, any single person claiming to appreciate that kind of "obviously stinged lips", or even, when talking about this topic, I never seen anyone -not- saying they find it ugly, even when light. Nobody in my life, ever. So how comes this trend? Why some women, especially popular, decide to pay to become ugly? Aren't they seeing the others at the TV? This isn't a body modification they do to look "weird and alternative" on purpose, which would be another discourse, but it's something they do to match with an attractive/regular/elegant look. Or at least they think so.
It's a trend me and a large number of people can't really understand or get used to. However me and my irl/online contacts are mostly European, maybe in the US you've a different visive perception and can express how this looks good to you somehow.
