Makeup tutorials for older women?

I've never been able to grasp the whole makeup thing. My eldest niece started at the age of 9, taught my other niece/her younger cousin starting at the age of 6, as their "uncle" I acted disinterested even though she was unknowingly teaching me, too, but I only saw them once a year, sometimes once every three years, so I only had one "lesson" with no "lab work."

Over the course of the next year I didn't have the opportunity to practice because the only time I was alone was when I was out in the woods, knowing I couldn't sneak my mom's makeup out without her noticing it missing from her dresser.

When I turned 13 I started staying home alone so I could practice with my mom's lipstick and blush, though I knew the foundation would be too difficult to remove before they got home so I had to bypass that, and the blush and lipstick were limited to one application, check it out in the mirror, and keep scrubbing my face until I was certain I had it off. In other words, if I messed up I didn't have time to fix it. I didn't have a tube of lipstick of my own until I was 22 and moved out.

Now I'm wanting to get into full makeup. Foundation, blush, highlighter, the whole nine yards, but I don't have the years of practice that cisgendered women my age have. I've checked YouTube and by the end of the video they always look like they walked away from a face painting booth at a carnival. I'm just looking to accentuate my face, not completely paint it.
