I have a platinum vintage style (like the one you have above…except it’s round tone) engagement ring (so it’s white).
the next 30-40 years or so, gold will lead in fashion.
I asked my jeweler. He said the white and my skin tone has more contrast.
I wear both yellow and white.
I like both. .. has to be more than 18k though.
I've never owned white gold and I would not bother because the point of wearing gold for most people is that it looks like gold and has a beautiful yellow colour. Some people wear gold because they are allergic to other materials but most wear it for the beautiful yellow shades that it comes in.
Yellow gold
I have had white gold pieces at times and have a bit of silver and do want some platinum at some point soon
I'll take anything across my books at a right price but see most of my numbers in yellow gold because it was in vogue in the 70's/80's
I don't like gold at all...
white gold looks best though, of the two

Yeah I have a question: call me crazy, but is white gold bleached? Seems just ‘unreal’ to me..
And yes, I prefer yellow gold <3
According to the US Geological Survey, it’s 75% gold and 25% nickel/zinc. https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/what-white-gold
@aquamarine321 After some quick skimming I realized/ confirmed: gold is naturally yellow. My terminology of ‘bleaching’ isn’t wrong/ I’ll-used because bleaching is ‘whitening’ by a chemical process, and alloys (metals) are chemically compounded and chemically melted/combined together with natural gold. The golden- earth stain is whitened and thus, “royally” bleached. :]
No wonder it seemed unreal to me- also I’m a huge lover of gold and that appreciation comes a lot from its warm color <3
Here’s some quick finds:
“White gold is not found in nature, since the element from the earth is pure yellow gold (referred to as 24k). In order to achieve a whiter hue, other metals are added to the pure yellow gold.”

whiten by exposure to sunlight or by a chemical process.

“An alloy is a mixture of chemical elements, which forms an impure substance (admixture) that retains the characteristics of a metal.” - Wikipedia lol
But hey, thanks for not calling me crazy 😊
@Robbey yes I trust that find- also just for clarification and my own sanity of thought:
Gold
Zinc
and
Nickel
Are not the same metals-
Any percentage of them found anywhere together, would prove nothing other than *three entirely different metals* in make up, malleability, and appearance- were found/ discovered together.
I appreciate the link! Will be an enjoyable read!
It depends on the quality, some pieces are just yellow gold plated in white metal (platinum, palladium or rhodium) but better makers will make an alloy of gold with other 'white metal' components such as zinc, nickel (not in Europe), silver and the aforementioned metals in top shelf designer pieces by the likes of Cartier and Harry Winston
@jamesgoldman sorry you can bind certain elements and make entirely new ones
But the basics remain completely independent of each other. I just don’t see any other way in this- I’m sorry to you all 😭👌
Forgiveness please!
*leaves with mind made up, and continued affection for the Au element*
In effect yes, I was just adding my professional input into the mix
@jamesgoldman ah nice! Thank you so much for the contribution! I honestly wasn’t sure what your stance on it was. I’ll have to read it again and check for sure!
👏🙌
I’m partial to rose gold, but I usually prefer silver.
I don't have much jewelry, but what I have is both white and yellow gold
Rose gold.
My wedding ring has three bands linked, one yellow, one white and one rose gold
